Sometimes this is what life asks for! To take a break from everything. Cutting off from everything will not only help you find yourself again but will also detoxify you from the inside. You have probably seen that ashrams or yoga/meditation centers don’t allow entry with a phone. Yes, to avoid distraction is a reason behind this, but to find yourself is also a reason. And this is very much needed for today’s generation. This generation is all about screens and reels and the competition to show up ourselves as perfect on others’ screens. There is no need to update everything about you to everyone. It hampers your personal growth, happiness, and most importantly, privacy. Also, you don’t have to follow what everyone else is doing just because you feel FOMO!

1. Deactivate social media platforms

Social media platforms are the windows for the world. You can peep through this window to see what is happening in the world. In the same way, even the world can keep an eye on your life, in your private space. Therefore it is important to limit sharing your life on social media. However, if you want to cut ties from this world, deactivate all your social media handles. This will help you to clear up your mind as you won’t be seeing others’ life and can concentrate on yours fully.

2. Block unwanted contacts

How many contacts do you have on your phone? And with how many of them do you actually have contact? And among them, with how many do you really talk? Remove unwanted contacts from your phone book and your brain. Brush away the people who add no value to your life. Make the size of your phone book very private. Parents, family, and close friends are good to go! You don’t need to save the number of that aunty who always enquiring you about your marriage goal!

3. Lock yourself in your own world

It is difficult to live in a locked room, and we all understood this in these two years. But let’s be honest, it was not that bad. Otherwise, people would love to continue life offline, unlike how many of them are still crying for World to Continue online. This is because, in these 2 years, we created our own world. Similarly, create your own life and enjoy the time you are living with yourself.

4. Get a hobby

The best way to spend time with yourself and create a world of your choice is by including the works you love doing.  Get yourself a good hobby, that will help you to grow as well. You can even include gardening, exercising, cooking, etc in your hobby list if you enjoy doing these choruses. You can even try out some art to clear up your mind. Spend time creating, cooking, baking, making, whatever you want to do. Enjoy the vacation you gave yourself to its fullest.

5. Binge-watch shows

Instead of going out on weekends, binge-watch your favorite shows on your couch. This sounds much more comfortable, isn’t it?  Binge-watch shows on days you feel like going out and having a good time. Of course, there is nothing wrong with going out and having fun, but if you want to cut yourself off from everyone, it’s better to stay indoors and have fun!

6. Avoid social gatherings

If you want to isolate yourself from the world then you need to avoid social gatherings. what we meant is  You need to avoid visiting events or malls functions concerts fairs,  restaurants cinema halls, etc. You can enjoy food by ordering. You can watch things in your home theater, you can buy stuff online and you can even attend events online as well. If you want to cut ties with everyone then better you avoid social gatherings. Not only for general public gatherings but you also need to avoid family gatherings as well such as a wedding or any party celebrations. Of course, this totally depends on how much you want to keep the distance from others but again if you want to fully distance yourself then you need to say bye-bye to family gatherings as well.

7. Work on yourself.

Isolating yourself or distancing yourself from the world is no doubt a big-big decision. And you need to utilize the time properly so that you can make out 100% from it. You need to work on yourself in that time. If you have taken the break for a competitive exam, prepare in this way that there is no chance left for you not cracking the exam.  Also, groom yourself internally and externally. Prioritize yourself and your mental health over everything. Try to build up good eating habits, exercise regularly, a morning ritual, a good sleep routine, that will contribute to your overall development. Work so hard on yourself that after 1 year when you come out of your room people should look at you and say that you have made proper use of the break.

8. Avoid unnecessary phone calls/texts

Distractions are the main reason why many people even after starting to work on themselves fail to do it till last. unnecessary phone calls or texts are also a part of the distraction. Try to avoid them as much as possible. Unnecessary phone calls or texts mean the time you are investing with the other person does not add any value in your life. For example let us assume you called a friend because you are feeling lonely and sad and instead of listening to you, your friend started his story, which would add up more sadness to your ones. Try to avoid such people and their calls. avoiding unneccessary call and text messages are one of the best way to cut off yourself from the world or society.

9. Celebrate festivities by yourself

As mentioned in point number six that you need to avoid social gatherings, This means you probably need to celebrate the festivals by yourself only. And what’s wrong with this? Well, of course, festivals are meant to be celebrated with our family and loved ones, But if you are planning to isolate yourself then you need to learn how to celebrate festivities by yourself. That is nothing wrong with celebrating your birthday or Christmas for 1 year by yourself, spending time with yourself,  enjoying yourself. At the most, you can invite or meet up with your parents or a few of your friends but try to limit it to a very few numbers of people.

10. Do meditation

Meditation is the medicine for almost everything. Feeling sad, meditate, feeling angry, meditate, feeling grateful, meditate! Therefore why not meditate when you are living alone? Practice meditation as this will not only bring you inner peace and emotional stability but will also give you a clear sight of your needs. You can increase your focus which will help you toward what’s your goal more prominently. Make meditation a habit. actually, meditation is helps you to be happy and cut off yourself from world or society.
