Parenting is not easy. Whenever the child falls parents need to pick them up whenever the child fails to make the child understand that it’s OK to fail. Motivating your child for his life is also a part of good parenting.
Some kids are self-motivated whereas other kids are less motivated and need a little push to make their way through. In an era where adults need the motivation to make it to their daily life chores, you may be wondering how to motivate your child? What most parents do is to offer a reward for the right step or a punishment for the wrong step. Well, this is a good approach year of your kid’s life but there are other ways to motivate your child.
Today we team zantania will be sharing with you some tips that will help you to motivate your child.
1. Say positive things
A child tries to copy their parents, so try to say positive things when you are around your child. This will help them to develop positive thinking and a positive mindset from the beginning only. For example, if they make a mistake or couldn’t do a certain work, don’t tell them that you can’t do anything, you are useless, you know nothing, etc. Instead, appreciate them that at least they tried. It’s OK to fail sometimes, they need to learn from the failure. This will help them to look at the positives even if life is giving them hard times.
2. Give responsibilities

The Harvard study of adult development found out that children who do more housework around the house become happier later on. Household responsibilities teachers children important life lessons related to duty, cooperation, community, helping others, and hard work. This also teaches the children about gender equality. Ask the father to help the mother in the housework this will teach your son or daughter that managing a house is not only a women’s responsibility. There is no gender division in the basic life skills. Children who learn the daily chorus early in life are likely to become well-adjusted adults. Make household chores a part of the family’s routine and culture which will help the children to build up a healthy future.

3. Give them challenges
Psychology work found out that people who view challenges and obstacles in a positive way are far more likely to become more successful than those who don’t. Teach your child to view the challenges positively. Give them small tasks one at a time and ask them to finish the work. This will help to develop a sense of positive attitude towards the challenges from the beginning. You can give them challenges. For example, you can ask them to finish the homework in a given time or else they will have to do some extra study as punishment. So this will make them realize the value of time and they will learn to take the challenges in a positive way as well.
4. Don’t shout
There is a practice of shutting up your children by shouting at them. This is a very bad practice. They will feel demoralized and want to ask you any further questions. Instead, answer them their question or you can politely make them understand about that topic. Reassure if they understood or not. This will help them to develop an interrogative nature. They will find it interesting to know about little things.
5. Celebrate accomplishments
Celebrate every time they accomplish their goal. Gives them a reward for completing their goal. This will help to motivate your child to work more in the upcoming days. Let them know that you are proud of them. Celebrating the success together shows them that you are really happy for them.
6. Help them develop their interest

Every kid has something that they find interesting. This can be anything- painting, cooking, science, mystery, magic. The young minds find this particular topic interesting. As a parent, the best way to encourage those young minds is by learning about their interest at the moment and encouraging them to explore that. Notice what your child enjoys most in their free time and try to get them those things.
7. Lead with positive examples
The young minds have very less or no idea about how the world works. They idolize adults. It is very common for children to copy their parents. For example, you can see a girl copying her mum to help out her in the kitchen or copying her dad by faking office work just like her dad would do. Similarly lead them with examples so that they can understand what can be the consequences of a particular work. And try to keep the examples in a positive way. Many times we heard parents saying to their child, ” if you don’t study hard you will be a sweeper! “. Instead of giving the example in this way the parent can also, “if you study hard you can help these people and can provide them a better life. “This is how a positive example works.”

8. Set daily / Weekly goals and rewards
This is a good way to train your child about time management and of course this is going to motivate your child. Having specific goals make it easier to motivate the child. Give them goals such as they need to cover this topic within this week raw this lesson in a day and then set a reward for it if they can accomplish their goal for example maybe their favorite chocolate or favorite cartoon show.
9. Self motivation

Make them understand the importance of self-motivation. This may be a bit heavy for them to understand but it is important that they understand not everyone will always be with them to motivate them externally. Make them understand the importance of work in their life and have to be self-motivated to accomplish the work.
10. Support them
Support them in every way you can. These young minds are struggling too to understand how the world mechanism works. And parents are the best friends at this time. Support them and encourage them when they are struggling. For example, help them with their homework every night when they find it difficult, Guide them and instruct them how to solve the problem/sum. Don’t spoon-feed them but prepare them for the world. It is not necessary that your child will be good at everything. But they can learn things and can perform better than yesterday if they get what they expect from their parents.
