Interview Dress Code For Mens

1. Shirts
You can wear light color, button-down shirt with long sleeves, or may you fold the sleeves till elbow length or three quarter. Make sure the shirt is neat and clean with no kind of marks and obviously pressed. Don’t wear loosely, as it creates an unprofessional look as a candidate. Make sure the shirt is tucked neatly into your pants. Stick to more natural fabrics. Don’t wear shiny fabrics. Don’t wear checked or any kind of print in the shirt. Very tint prints can be acceptable, but try to wear a solid color shirt. It will create a more professional look. You can add a solid-colored tie or a tie with tiny prints, but not necessarily what you have to wear. Also, if you don’t wear a tie, make sure you are buttoned up till the neck. Avoid showing chest. You may add up a blazer of black or navy blue or gray color to pull your overall business look. Don’t wear bright-colored or shimmery blazers.
2. Pants
You can wear dress pants matching with your shirt/blazer. Don’t wear pants that are too short (above ankle length). Also, avoid wearing skin-tight pants. Go for more comfortable fittings. Make sure the pants are neat and clean and pressed too with no kind of marks. Stick to more neutral colors like black, grey, brown, etc as they match many shirt colors. You can also wear khakis. 3. Shoes
Opt for dark-colored, polished leather shoes. Make sure your shoes are clean with no marks. You can also wear dark-colored loafers, lace-up dress shoes, oxfords, or another professional closed-toe shoe that compliments your outfit. Chappals are a big no-no. Make sure to wear mid-calf-length dress socks that match the color of your trousers. If you wear pants of grey color and socks in black color, it will create a mismatched look. Don’t wear athletic socks.
4. Accessories
Accessorizing is an important part for any dress code. Shoes, pants, shirts, everything is incomplete without proper accessories. You can add up a classic wristwatch with a metal or a leather belt. You can also put up a side bag if you are carrying a laptop or any kind of document. Wear a leather belt at the waist, the color is slightly related to the color of shoes. Comb your hair neatly and use gel to set them. Avoid wearing any kind of earring, bracelets, or neckpiece jewelry. Use a mild perfume/ deodorant to complete the look. 1. Top Wear
Wear a formal top or shirt which seems professional and conservative. You can try a buttoned-down shirt or a stand collar top with full sleeves or quarter sleeves. Don’t wear sleeveless or short sleeves. If you want to go with traditional wearables, you can wear a simple solid color straight Kurti with very less or preferably no embroidery. Avoid short kurtis or very long Anarkali type kustis. In some interviews, if the organization demands, you can also wear a simple one-color saree with a decent full sleeve or quarter sleeve blouse. You can also wear a one-piece dress with mid-length. Go with more natural fabrics like cotton or silk. Avoid big prints or floral prints. Go with more solid colors or small prints. Neutral colors will look professional. Whatever you wear, make sure it is neat and clean, and pressed. You may add up a blazer or a coat of black or navy blue or gray color to pull your overall business look. Don’t wear bright-colored or shimmery blazers. You can even wear a cardigan.
2. Bottom Wear
In the case of a saree or one-piece, you don’t need bottom wear of course. For Kurti, you can pair it up with any neutral-colored slacks. You can even wear pants of khadi or cotton fabric, matching with the Kurti. It will look professional. For tops or shirts, you can surely go with formal trouser pants or pencil skirts of knee-length or mid-length, of any neutral color. You can also wear stockings of black or skin color. Make sure the bottom wear is perfectly fitted, don’t wear too loose or too tight clothes. And the piece should be any kind of stain-free and pressed.

3. Shoes
Wear any shoe you are comfortable in, it should cover the toe. Avoid bright colors. Stick to shades of black, grey, or skin tone color. You can wear flats, pumps, or low heels ( heels 2 to 5 inches high). Your shoes need to be polished and scratch-free, make sure they don’t look dirty. Don’t wear casual shoes or too high heels or even sneakers.
4. Accessories
Your dress code will go in vain if your accessories get wrong. Avoid wearing chunky jewelry. You can wear studs as earpieces. Don’t wear long and heavy earrings. Avoid over-accessorizing. Do not put earrings and neckpiece and bracelets all together. You can wear a simple wristwatch or a chain bracelet with no bright-colored stone. You can also add on a belt with a one-piece dress or pants. You can add a scarf or a dupatta with your Kurti but take care of the color, should not be very loud. Use a mild perfume/ deodorant to complete the look. Also, make use of your breath to smell fresh. Trim your nails and try not to wear nail paints. Put up your hair in a ponytail or in a braid. You can also leave them open. But don’t try out unnecessary funky hairstyles or hair accessories. For makeup, don’t put on heavy makeup that may look cakey. Instead go for very light makeup, highlighting your facial features. Don’t wear bright lipstick. Stick to nude shades.

- Any kind of big prints, animal prints or Hawaii prints.
- Too much revealing clothes.

- Ill fitted clothes, either too loose or too tight.
- Stained and dirty clothes.

- Heavy jewelries and strong perfumes.
